Organizers. Parents' Initiative TERGO
TERGO is a nonprofit Ukrainian NGO, a community of parents, families, and friends of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) people based on human and family values. This initiative brings together those who seek to understand and defend the civil rights of LGBT people.
TERGO was founded in April 2013 by mothers, parents, and friends of LGBT people and it was officially registered on September 16, 2013, as a civil organization "Parents Initiative "TERGO".
Currently, the main tasks of "TERRO" are:
Psychological consultation of LGBT parents whose children made a coming out.
Conduct workshops and meetings for education and awareness-raising for parents of LGBT people.
Ensure a healthy and safe environment for LGBT people, their families, and friends through the elimination of discrimination and respect for human and civil rights of these people in Ukraine.
Increase the number of like-minded people, turning the initiative into a big organization that will serve both the LGBT's parents and their children.
Establishing branches in many large and small cities or regions to enable LGBT children to feel protected from bias and stereotypes.
Civil organization FULCRUM
FULCRUM was established in 2009 as an all-Ukrainian charitable organization. It arose in response to ignoring the HIV epidemic among men who have sex with men. In order to respond more effectively to new challenges, in 2017, FULCRUM was granted the legal status of a civil organization.
Our organization is a member of the International Association of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex People (ILGA) and The International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer & Intersex (LGBTQI) Youth and Student Organisation.
Since 2017, our two employees have become members of the International AIDS Society (IAS), an association of HIV professionals, which now has 16,000 members from 196 countries.
It is worth noting that FULCRUM was the first LGBT organization in Ukraine, which initiated a coalition project with non-LGBT organizations, launching in 2013 a project "Ukrainian Index of Corporate Equality" aimed at overcoming discrimination in the workplace. We actively support the annual National LGBT Movement and MSM-Service of Ukraine, as well as the Kyiv Pride equality march. Our Facebook Page
